Anglican
Prayer Beads

Prayer beads have been around for a long time. The word "bead" comes from an Old English word for "prayer." So beads and prayer have gone hand in hand. But not among Anglicans. Not until the 1980's, when an Episcopal priest, leading groups in contemplative prayer, put them Anglican Prayer Beadsinto our hands -- Anglican prayer beads. The beads track the progress of your prayers -- important in repetitive prayer. Learn about the history and use of prayer beads. You'll find interesting facts concerning prayer beads used in many religions, suggestions for prayer with Anglican beads, and places to buy beads. The prayer beads displayed above are available from the Washington National Cathedral Museum Store.

GiGiBeads.net
This is our choice as the best site on the web for Anglican prayer beads. In July 2000, a good friend of Gabriele Whittier gave her a set of Anglican Prayer Beads for her birthday.  This gift changed her life dramatically.  Not only did she find a new and fulfilling way to talk to God, she found a love for creating Anglican Prayer Beads to share with her friends and church family.  She offers beautiful Prayer Beads for sale, provides information and links to resources to make Prayer Beads, and offers a great wealth of prayers to be offered using Anglican Prayer beads.

Full Circle Beads
This, too, is an excellent site. You'll find a useful diagram displaying the symbolism of Angican Prayer Beads and prayer resources.. Beads are for sale, as well as the book, The Anglican Rosary, by the Rev Lynn Bauman, who created The Anglican Rosary as a useful tool while leading groups in contemplative prayer in the 1980's.

The Rosary Wookshop
You'll find good background concerning prayer beads. prayer beads and prayer bead making supplies for sale. This site is not specific for Anglican beads, in fact is largely Roman Catholic, but contains much useful information.

General History and Background
For general history and background of prayer beads we suggest entries from the Catholic Encyclopedia , The Daughters of St Paul, Rosary Workshop and Episcopal Campus Ministry - University of Maryland.
